Aquila Environmental Policy

The business is committed to managing its environmental responsibilities and is fully compliant with UK, Republic of Ireland and EU regulations where they apply.
The Management System includes processes to plan, identify, control and review all environmental activities. Any adverse impacts are dealt with through a robust Corrective Action process to identify and eliminate the cause, thereby preventing further problems in the future.
Aquila Business Products Ltd assess and effectively manage the environmental impacts of its daily operations, reacting to any negative impact the business may be having on the environment with immediate effect and where possible reversing such impact.

The company exercises product stewardship in conjunction with its suppliers, in its approach to environmental protection.
It calls on those in the product lifecycle especially manufacturers and suppliers to share responsibility for reducing the environmental impact of products. Aquila Business Products Ltd recognises that their suppliers and product manufacturers can and must take on new responsibilities to reduce the environmental impacts of their products and will work with such organisations that take on and prove such responsibilities.
Aquila Business Products Ltd also manages its product range to ensure that products do not cause unacceptable environmental damage through its receipt, storage, and use or disposal phases. The business regularly communicates its environmental policy to all business stakeholders – shareholders, employees, customers and suppliers through various electronic communication mediums.
Our General Manager "Chris Habershon", along with all team members of Aquila maintain the Management System to ISO 14001:2004 standard, he also ensures legal and other compliances.
A representative at each Aquila Business Products Ltd location and head office overlooks and monitors the day to day control of the Environmental Management System, ensuring business:

• Awareness of environmental issues and legislation,
• Identification of significant environmental aspects and potential impacts thereof,

WEEE Directive

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
Most organisations now use some form of IT equipment on a daily basis. A consequence of this is the high volume of redundant electrical equipment. The new WEEE directive is aimed at encouraging recycling and reusage of electrical and electronic equipment where possible and the correct disposal of such products.
In short the WEEE directive aims to:

• Reduce waste arising from electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)
• Make producers of EEE responsible for the environmental impact of their products, especially when they become waste
• Encourage separate collection and subsequent treatment, reuse, recovery, recycling and sound environmental disposal of EEE
• Improve the environmental performance of all those involved during the lifecycle of EEE

Aquila Business Products Ltd fully complies with all government legislation, under the WEEE directive regulations.
The business’s aim under this initiative is to fully support, conform and supply customers with the information required to assist their business, as and when the government releases new procedures.

The business currently sells 2430 products, which have a recyclable content of 50% or more. Aquila Business Products Ltd is continually attempting to increase this number of products within the portfolio with the assistance of suppliers.
Q Connect is one of Aquila Business Products Ltd's own brand range, with over 15,000 products within the good quality, low cost range. Aquila Business Products Ltd adopts the same low cost monitoring principles as with other suppliers with its own brand suppliers. The products are made using modern and well equipped manufacturing tools, housed within modern factories to minimise wastage and ensure the highest possible standards are met at all times.
Office Basics is a low cost alternative to premium ink, toner, and fax supplies. The range is rapidly expanding and comprises of over 300 products, including laser cartridges, inkjet supplies, fax cartridges and drum kits.
The business offers a comprehensive range of furniture within its product portfolio.
All furniture within the range is supplied by a business that holds FSC and ISO 14001 certification. These coveted certifications were extremely influential during Aquila Business Products Ltd’s decision making process when choosing a furniture supplier.

Packaging and Waste

Aquila Business Products Ltd is continually investigating ways to improve the business’s waste disposal operations between locations in order to minimise the effect on the environment.
Wherever possible reusable plastic boxes are used within the warehouses and transportation to and from suppliers and local branches.
Existing procedures in place include:

• Energy efficiency systems
• Registered waste management companies collect all waste
• The business continues to discuss further opportunities with our suppliers to eliminate unnecessary packaging.

Transport Efficiency

Aquila Business Products Ltd's transport fleet is the most fundamental part of the business’s supply chain, as getting orders to customers on time, every time is an absolute necessity in the business’s competitive marketplace.
All company van and car drivers are encouraged to drive with good technique to maintain excellent MPG returns and reduce emissions into the atmosphere.
Drivers are requested to drive diesel vehicles whenever possible to obtain maximum MPG this is mandatory with high mileage drivers.
Efficient control of Aquila Business Products Ltd's transport network is ongoing and the business is constantly looking at and developing ways to increase efficiency.
Aquila Business Products Ltd raises awareness of the impacts of travel decisions in line with Government policy and encourages staff and visitors to choose alternative modes of travel to the private car, in particular single occupancy.
Staff are encouraged to car share – colleagues are encouraged to share vehicles in an attempt to alleviate traffic congestion, vehicle omissions, fuel consumption, fuel costs etc.
